Static electricity and record
The voltage on vinyl is over 500 volts when taken out from the jacket. This is called peeling static electricity, and the voltage changes with speed and pressure to take out. Static electricity voltage changes when vinyl moving, even by clothes. Voltage of several hundred volts remains even if it platter is placed to be ground. When cleaning vinyl, static electricity drops to dozens of volts.
Generation of static electricity by stylus
Even if static electricity on vinyl is eliminated before playing. Static electricity is generated by friction between stylus and vinyl. The voltage often generated over Hundreds of volts.
The effect of static electricity on record
Static electricity + and – attract, and + and + repulsive force works. It is determined in inverse proportion to the square of the distance between the stylus and vinyl, it becomes a large force and works out, and the stylus does not follow accurately vinyl groove.
Micro gap discharge
As friction continues, the voltage increases steadily but when it exceeds the withstand voltage of the gap between + and -, it discharges. When this is repeated, it becomes a certain level, and the noise of the discharge goes to the cartridge and becomes noise.
Rotating electric field
When a random static electricity on vinyl turns, a rotating electric field is generated.Current flows to the cartridge due to the rotating electric field, and it comes out as noise.
Principle of static elimination of IME 1
+ And – ions come out from the bottom exit of the IME 1. – When vinyl is charged, – ions flicker. On the other hand, + ions combine with – ions on the vinyl, and the voltage disappears. When the vinyl is charged to +, this movement is reversed.
Magnetism of the record board
The vinyl is nonmagnetic material, however a very small amount of magnetism remains in vinyl. Random magnetization generates the rotating magnetic field and goes to the cartridge as noise.
Operation of demagnetizer
When the button is pressed, the attenuation magnetic field is radiated from the bottom of the IME 1 for about 12 seconds to erase the magnetism of the vinyl.
